Urdu Classes

Please specify students’ availability on weekdays and weekends. An interview will determine which class is best for the student. Once a student is registered is received, you will be notified of the class schedule.
Semester Tuition:
3rd grade and up $250/student for once a week class

Extended Learning and Differentiation:
Teachers will provide live instruction during class time and assign interactive review and enrichment activities. Supplemental learning material is also provided to the students for additional asynchronous learning on their own time. A culmination of all these activities will build up to a final project.
Learners in higher-level classes will have additional vocabulary, worksheets, and more detailed assignments to complete during asynchronous sessions.
Become confident in speaking about your needs and wants in Urdu while supporting the needs of others. Students will progress from learning how to name objects to describing them. They will convey their likes and dislikes of things and activities, differentiate between needs and wants, and make requests based on scenarios. We will work under the theme of becoming Grateful Citizens and shine a light on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Reduced Inequalities. Learners will complete one out of three possible projects based on their skill level.

Heroes are all around us. This course will teach students how to identify them more easily and even showcase themselves as heroes. They will be able to identify question words to share about their home (rooms, objects, activities) and family members (descriptions, characteristics). They will study biographies to assist in showcasing a family or community hero.

This course delves deeper into the various levels of Urdu engagement. Students Learners will learn how to converse in various scenarios around the home, local community, and social media. Learners will level up on vocabulary based on colors, numbers, likes, and dislikes. Time will be spent filling in any gaps in reading and writing, including an introduction to the use of the Urdu keyboard.

There will be an oral proficiency interview for placement. Aside from that, any parent wishing to enroll a child to a level they think is right for them should be interviewed.
What choices do we make in how we spend our time and energy? Learners will be introduced to verb tenses to share their daily activities. They will learn numbers 1-31 and days of the week to use schedules and tell time to make plans with each other. Among the plans will be favorite activities and dining. When learning about food and leisure activities, they will learn to make healthy choices and encourage others to as well. In the final project, learners will develop plans for a social event of choice for the community or develop a getting-to-know-me video to share with a potential study-abroad student coming to stay with the family. 45 minute class, twice a week for 13 weeks $390 *Prerequisite: Literacy Class There will be an oral proficiency interview for placement. SelectLet’s travel to a city in Pakistan! In this class learners will review days, weeks, months, telling time, and directions. They will learn about weather and needs in each season to help schedule get-togethers and decide on when and where to meet up, and what to take along. In the second half of the semester, learners will explore cities of Pakistan through its geography, culture, and history. In the final project, we will prepare for a trip to a destination of choice. *Prerequisite: Literacy Class There will be an oral proficiency interview for placement.
